Joseph Moore (b 1742) was born in England but fought for his new country
in the Revolutionary War as a Private (some say Sargent) in the Virginia
Infantry. His war record is documented in the Virginia State Library War
Vol #5, p 132. His and his wife's services to the Revolution are described
in the volume "Mississippi, Sketches of Southern & Western Life"
by Joseph Cobb, published in 1851. His records are also found in the family
bible, which in 1921 was owned by "Emory College in Oxford GA".
Joseph's lineage and Revolutionary service are also established under
numerous DAR National Numbers, among them 82234, 92477, 103837, &
136341. He was the son of
John Moore who emigrated from England and settled in New Kent County,
VA.
